Elementary Mathematics

- Fractions: Performing basic arithmetic operations on fractions.
- Percentage: Calculating and converting percentages.

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts the SSC Constable (General Duty) Examination, also known as SSC GD Constable Examination, to recruit eligible candidates for the post of constables in various Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), NIA, SSF, and Rifleman (GD) in Assam Rifles. The syllabus for the SSC GD Constable Examination is as follows:
Computer-Based Examination (CBE):
The SSC GD Constable Examination consists of a single paper conducted in a computer-based examination (CBE) mode. The CBE paper includes four subjects:
- General Intelligence & Reasoning: This section tests the candidate’s ability to think and solve problems.
- General Knowledge & General Awareness: This section covers questions related to current events, sports, history, culture, geography, economics, and general polity.
- Elementary Mathematics: This section includes basic mathematical concepts such as numbers, decimals, fractions, and relationships between numbers, percentages, ratio and proportion, averages, interest, profit and loss, discount, time & distance, time & work, etc.
- English/ Hindi: Candidates can choose either English or Hindi for this section. It includes questions on basic comprehension, writing ability, and other grammar-related topics.
The examination is of an objective type, and each section carries equal marks. There are a total of 100 questions, and each question carries one mark. The total duration of the CBE is 90 minutes.
Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and Physical Standard Test (PST):
Candidates who qualify in the CBE are called for the Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and Physical Standard Test (PST). The standards for PET and PST vary for male and female candidates and are as follows:
For Male Candidates:
- Race: 5 kilometers in 24 minutes
- Long Jump: 14 feet
- High Jump: 3 feet 9 inches
For Female Candidates:
- Race: 1.6 kilometers in 8.5 minutes
- Long Jump: 10 feet
- High Jump: 3 feet
Detailed Medical Examination (DME):
Candidates who pass the PET/PST are called for a Detailed Medical Examination (DME) to ensure they are medically fit for the job.
